1956 Rio Grande Train Crash in Troublesome, Colorado

“Trouble at Troublesome” is a documentary film by the D&RGW following a 1956 accident on its Moffat Tunnel Route. After two freight trains collided at Troublesome Siding, the railroad staged a reenactment of events leading up to the mishap. You’ll see F-units in the original pinstripe scheme, steam-powered Big Hooks cleaning up the derailment, and the California Zephyr gliding by after the main line was reopened.
