Widow Creek Railroad

WCRR CA. 1999

Welcome to The Feather River Canyon!  The Feather River Canyon is a place where a railroad learns respect for nature.  Even for a company of Union Pacific’s capability, the canyon presents a tremendous operating challenge.  The danger of rock slides is always present, and UP hasn’t always been able to add sidings or other improvements to make running trains here much easier than it was when Western Pacific built the line in the early part of the 20th century.  With maintenance personnel constantly trying to keep the line in prime operating condition, between train movements, and access afforded only by the railroad itself, the challenge never ends.
